Day of the Dead / Dia De Los Muertos

It has to do with more that just day of the dead, actually I came into this from the idea of Death From Carlos Castaneda " Death is our eternal companion, it is always to our left, at an arm's length.  How can anyone feel so important when we know that death is stalking us. The thing to do when you're impatient is to turn to your left and ask advice from your death. An immense amount of pettiness is dropped if your death makes a gesture to you, or if you catch a glimpse of it, or if you just have the feeling that your companion is there watching you."

So death images came from a philosophy and experience. My best friend died on my 13th birthday, and my mom died when I was 17 from Leukemia, my grandfather a week before her.  and it is death that makes me aware, to be sweet to those I will, and take no shit from those I don't need to . So I can say my reasons for creating death images are due to the lesson I've learned in my own life, and my want to share with you the viewer, collector, reader that life is to be lived doing what you love, and who you love it with.

There are cultural identification with images of death, that in my opinion, due to evidence that it transcends cultures and into the very myth of man.

Maybe we can change this myth of death?

In the Tibetan book of the dead, known as the bardo thodol. Even the bardo is the time between death and the next rebirth. As in buddhism the belief is reincarnation. We do this, thing called life, again and again till we learn the lessons of human, and we all do it again and again, till we are all awake! And the idea of coming back after awakening, in order to help others is called Bhoddisattva.  That to me is some serious, serious compassion.
